a little birdie...

In culling through several paper books, I came across a template for a curly tailed bird from the paperback book, "Papercrafting in no time". I decided to create favor boxes decorated with these darling little paper birds. The Fabriano creamy ivory color paperstock worked well against the crisp white and green floral paper. I love the Italian Fabriano deckled edge paperstock. With scissors in hand, paper punch and mat knife I began to build my table set. Using a 4.5 x 4.5 Fabriano card stock, cut 2 curly tailed birdies and began to nest them atop each 2x2 favor box. Using 2 yards Cream City Cotton curl, I cut the length into 3 24" pieces and randomly shred and curled the ribbon lengths. Swirled the ribbon into a loose nest and nestled the birdie inside and secured with tacky tape to the top of each box. The next project framed the menu of the day, with 14 birdies cut and taped along the edge of a 8x8 white hi-wall lid, intertwined the birdies to playfully curl around to frame the menu. The flowers are crepe paper flowers in sap green, placed into a hi-wall box (4 x 12) with the softness of Cream City cotton curl, cascading down the side of the box. What a great table set for your next shower or girls luncheon.
